In just under a year, Ramphastos (21 year old Will Flourance from South Carolina) has been able to produce and release three full-length digital releases that morphs old pop music classics into blissful and haunting beats.
Southern Gothic is the third of these releases and it firmly establishes the sound and character of Ramphastos. This album can be seen as an American response to the overabundance of beat producers from the UK and western Europe.
What makes Ramphastos stand out in comparison to his contemporary producers is his raw, underproduced sound and distinct use of full-octave pitch shifts that transform soulful and sweet melodies into otherworldly chants and dirges.
You can expect to hear all this along with rich textures and driving, pressure dropping beats all on Southern Gothic.
